The vice provost for faculty provides strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight for institute-wide academic initiatives, with a focus on fostering faculty excellence, institutional effectiveness, and the advancement of MIT’s mission. The vice provost for faculty is a key member of the Institute’s academic leadership team and serves as a primary advocate for faculty development and mentoring.

Faculty engagement is a collaborative effort, based on partnerships with faculty governance, the vice chancellor for undergraduate and graduate education, individual departments, and other members of the community.
New voices in the MIT community
The MIT MLK Scholars Program welcomes 10-15 outstanding scholars to MIT for visiting appointments every year. The program enriches and expands the reach of the Institute community, while allowing scholars to deepen their own work.

Campus Space
Committee for Renovation and Space Planning (CRSP)
CRSP is the steward of MIT’s campus, responsible for all campus space assignments as well as assuring that the campus meets the current and future needs of the Institute. Submit the CRSP Project Request form when you need to request a renovation, an increase in space allocation, or request a study of existing space.
Space Management System (SMS)
The Office of the Provost regularly collects data on the use of campus spaces to facilitate better stewardship of the Institute’s resources. Access for administrators only.
Use campus spaces
The Office of the Provost oversees the collaboration spaces DEN and LODGE, and reviews requests for use of open, outdoor spaces on the MIT campus.
