2022 MacVicar Faculty Fellows named
The Office of the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar’s Office have announced this year’s Margaret MacVicar Faculty Fellows: professor of mechanical engineering Kenneth Kamrin; professor of electrical engineering and computer science Jeffrey Lang; professor of earth, atmospheric and planetary sciences W. David McGee; and professor of chemistry Matthew Shoulders. -

MIT to ease masking, testing, attestation requirements
The Omicron surge now appears to be behind us. And while almost 4,500 of our MIT colleagues, classmates, and friends have tested positive since December, we are not aware of anyone in our community who has been hospitalized during that time due to Covid. -
Cynthia Barnhart named MIT Provost
Cynthia Barnhart SM ’86, PhD ’88, a longtime faculty member and MIT’s former chancellor, will be the Institute’s next provost, President L. Rafael Reif announced today. -
Agustín Rayo named dean of SHASS
Agustín Rayo PhD ’01, an accomplished philosopher and experienced MIT administrator, has been named the new dean of the Institute’s School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (SHASS).
